I have had similarly poor results with JPgroup classicline parts, including a rear heater matrix that exploded out of the blue and showered my legs in boiling hot coolant!

As a postscript to the above; abridged (meaning not verbatim) information given to me by Aidan Talbot.
"The original version with the restrictor plate moulded in, it will be to control flow as bore of the thin pipe and header pipe are limiting factor in flow, same as the metal spigot on right side head below alternator has a small hole in it even though the outlet on the case casting is bigger."

Back to me....
I have decided to contact Brickwerks and discuss the replica's worthiness. And whether anyone else has had similar problems with this cheaper version. Not a complaint as such. Just a heads up to discuss getting a better alternative in stock.
Ive seem them for sale (mostly in europe) for around 35 euros.
If buying in the UK (or anywhere else, in fact) check you are getting original OEM first. And not a poor Classic Line version.

Have just emailed Brickwerks for their opinion.
One thing l have mentioned in my email is their website shows a picture of what looks like a genuine part. No mention of Classic Line version. I guess the answer is in the price, though.
Yet l also paid 18 quid to Coolairvw. Their webpage also shows a genuine looking coolant hose. Yet l got another Classic Line sub-quality hose. I didnt even bother taking it out of the bag.
All in, it's cost me close to 45 quid to sort this out. But lm truly grateful you parted with an original. Slipped it in. Reverted to a VW spring clip. No leaks.
Buying cheap can be expensive. :D

The early cooling system on our old DH (a dg with injection) engine gave me the shivers. So many connections and pipes the Subaru makes me feel calmer just looking at it. All good though, just my opinion
