what filler?

flexible wood filler, depending on depth when i rake it out

ok, more rot than i thought, it just crumbled away so bigger hole to deal with now. Dont think the filler idea is an option now.



any suggestions? bearing in mind im unskilled at this sort of thing and only have basic hand tools to use.

Best cancel the router idea then
Personally I would take the lot up and put some fresh ply in its place until you have time to remove the units...
If you keep it tight against the units then when you take the units out you could possibly put some of the same ply on the bottom of them!!

its a single sheet of chipboard that goes under the cupboards and buddy seat. not sure how it can be clean cut in situe

Ugh! It's that crap they call chipboard. Get it all out, loosen the units (self tappered through into floor?) from the floor and fit something like 8mm plywood. You will be able to slide the plywood underneath the units, but be mindfull that they may be made of chipboard as well.

If I remember when I 'chucked out the chip' from my van the piece of plywood was something like 4' x 5'. So it will be well worth doing in the end.

Its a right buggre of a job and I`d not relish having to do it if it was mine even though its my trade
With it being dodgy chipboard it don`t help....
To get it half decent the only cutter that would leave a neat job would be a biscuit jointer run along tight to the face of the unit leaving a small margin and then any corners would still need squaring up

As Tex says rip out and slide under sounds best

Got a pic of the whole floor area??

Just read your thread. I have just stripped the interior out of my van for respray (westie joker). Me an' the nipper (some nipper, 6 foot 2! ) took 12 hours to do it but...
That included the headlining of cab, luggage box top of roof and right side curtain rail. Estimate this took 1 to 2 hours. Must admit I am not looking forward to the "put-it-back-challenge" but well worth doing. Gives you a good chance to assess probs and rustproof behind, however....

Quick fix? Rip chipboard out by hand, some flat cardboard on floor (lay strips in "furrows", flat piece over top) scrounged from supermarket, carpet over top. If it gets wet, repeat operation!

Just a thought.

Make sure you do not cover any 'gas drop out' holes that may be present when you fit your new flooring.
