Further problem, if I add the extra pulley it will foul the silencer! It's fitted with the later one so I either find a recessed pump pulley (petrol)? Fit an early exhaust, "adjust" the existing silencer or throw the spanners in a heap and retire to the pub!

Thanks Simon, I will go ahead with the pulley as I have sorted the silencer clearance problem, the n/s mounting brackets were missing! I ordered new ones from you today. Email sent for pulley.
Thanks Baz.

I thought the engine was different so I checked the engine no., it would appear it has been fitted with a much later engine.
Original - JX 130317
Now - JX 221519
The truck (Syncro) was built in '91, 221519 seems a high number, surely Graz didn't produce that many JX Syncros after mine ? (Production stopped in '92)

JX 130317 built September 1988
JX 221519 built October 1991, so looks like that's the original one for your van

That's odd, the V5 and original German documents state JX 130317. vin year letter is M. Then again the type no.shows 245-299. and I'm sure it's a Doka RHD ! Top it all off with a first reg. date of 1994

The NAFFI wagon Vin plate also said 245-299 but it was definitely a doka; I have seen that a lot on vans listed on mobile.de they must have stamped a load of vin plates by mistake or the guy making plates was just mischievous; I have even seen it on German vehicles which have on the white sticker the M code for the option 'no type number on plate'
Just goes to show ze Germans make mistakes, but you'll never get them to admit it

I thought it must be a typo.

It was a German tax fiddle, been told about 245 Double Cabs by a knowledgable German in the past.
