Thanks for all of your help, still rather confused as it's obviously just all a bit wrong!

Any chance anyone could post a pic of the wiring as I'm trying to work out how the black wires actually connect together etc.

At the moment someone has connected the manifold hedgehog heater into the carb auto choke heater wire, the 12v fuel cut off is wired to the thermoswitch, there's a mystery green and black stripe wire that's not connected to anything and I'm missing the preheat relay

Thanks, so looks like like the thermoswitch for choke and heater is located in a different place on later engines as I don't see it on the main pic in that thread. God knows how my van runs in the it has been wired!

ok guys, I've got preheat relay coming tomorrow, the red 2,5 wire is now connected inline with the manifold heater, carb heater and choke.

Just need help with the following please, I'm waiting for an electrical probe to turn up so going to test for live and earths etc tomorrow too -

Brown wire disappears off under the engine and is currently not connected to anything at the wiring loom end, I'd assume this was an oil pressure/level warning wire?
There's a piggyback wire that's coming off the thermoswitch, currently not connected, looks like the wire it piggy backs from is probably the signal feed for the heater relay?
