Here is a pic of my new fridge rework, this is in 'travel' mode with the removable strap to stop the fridge moving around whilst on the road. The 12v feed is coming in from the left and the 240v lead is stowed at the top right of the fridge area (where the white hook is). When on site with hook up the 240v lead plugs in to the socket on the fridge front (bottom right). Theres enough room to access this top loading unit in situ and it has a built in led light.

Fridge / Coolbox = forget running them off 12V unless it is a "compressor" type. These start at around £260 but only use a fraction of the power of a conventional camping fridge / coolbox. Around 2 Amp hour versus about 7 Amp hour (the latter, non compressor type being roughly equivalent to leaving your head lights on). Yes compressor units are worth the extra expense, I'm happy with mine.

It goes to minus temperatures (if dialled in on the temperature control) very quickly, like 30 minutes and it can stay like that even on the hottest day.

Long time no see.....

I have a 24 L portable,with shoulder strap, compressor fridge freezer.
It fits in the van walkthrough.
Uses 3 amps max instead of 8 amps for a pelltier cool box..

I keep it in the estate car for going to the shops, in 20 mins it is down to freezing..

Where the old fridge was, I installed a roll out toilet cassette and B-b-q storage...
