No, definitely not my diagram, apart from the red and blue circles.
I'm half way between Cambridge and St Neots.
Who do you suggest to get it resolved?

Fitted the wrong way round also! ( Unless it is filtering a return)

Yes, that's the return.

Now that's even more bizarre! Why filter a return that has been filtered twice already?

Here's picture of it.
That’s going to be getting much hotter soon enough ....
not one but two petrol filters in the engine bay ....

C'mon guys, the OP needs a bit of help and advice on how to solve his overheating problem, we're normally a bit friendlier with newbies
.....(even though when I zoomed in I saw an Interesting use of a high voltage sticker on the air filter)

Quite simply , that needs a complete refit , and replumbing up , all the later parts are available to do the job
It’s always going to overheat as it is , the coolant is restricted where it shouldn’t be and flowing wrong

Fixed that for you.

Thanks for all your pointers.
Can anyone recommend a garage near me in Cambs/Beds area to get it looked at by someone who knows watercooled T25's?
Thanks

I don't know anywhere in your locality.
Is Grantham too far - less than an hour away, why not see if you can get rid of air via the radiator bleed screw so that it can run without overheating and get it to Andrew - but see what his waiting times are first

Andy already knows this as we've spoken. I'd have had it in tomorrow, and it should be straightforward to sort, but we're just about to shoot up to Scotland for a few weeks, and have now closed the diary for the foreseeable. Sorry.

So.... afrer more thinking and staring, I decided to go for the thermostat, took it out, jammed it open (don't ask) ran it for a while and some progress.
After a 10 mile run the temp gauge goes up to about a 1/3 over and stays rock solid, not ideal I know, but progress.
I took it out and put it in a mug with boiling water, and nothing, not even open a bit, changed the water for more boiling straight from the kettle and nothing.
The one that was removed by the garage has 3 holes drilled in it, is that a commom mod?
Is this a decent replacement ?

Here's what's in it.
Thanks again

Use a saucepan full of water and boil it - that way you can be certain that it does or does not open correctly. A small amount of water will not be able to put enough heat into it.
