OK, so I was trying to bleed the bleeding thing (1.9DG) after replacing the thermostat housing (and a pipe that was blocked solid with a clay-like substance) and apart from the almost constant bubbles, there was at most a slight dribble from the radiator bleed screw.

At this point I should mention that I followed the instructions from the Wiki.

Anyway, as the bubbles never ended, I opened the bleed screw fully uintil such point as it shot pink goo all over my face and hair (except I'm bald as a coot, so to be fair, it actually exploded all over my scalp ).

Now my questions are (many and varied, but I'll try to limit them here):

When bleeding normally, does it pish out or merely dribble like an incontinent pensioner?

Should it have shot out a couple of litres when the rad bleed screw was totally removed?

What the feck was that clay-like crap in my pipe?

And should I assume that more pipes are likely to be similarly contaminated?

Oh and lastly, why the feck did I buy this utter peice of crap van that has never been right since the day I bought it?

p.s. I don't expect an answer to the last one.....it just made me feel a little better to ask it

A. shouldnt have to removed screw completely (like rads in house) only 4 or 5 turns

Q. What the feck was that clay-like crap in my pipe
A. either build up in hard water area or possibly previous owner has used "rad weld" type chuckin fixer that hardens on contact with air, not suited to this type of engine/radiator layout.
