Buy a new one..

what about the bumpers? - there are some rust spots on mine which i was going to sand off and repaint - can i use the same paint as for the grilles that has been recommended?

i used cheap puondland black satin car paint on the grills - worked lovely and they still clean up very nimcely. I bought Hammerite black paint onto rust for the bumpers. (orginal steel ones) A bit more pricey, but did the job nicely....and easy to touch up too - gets alot more marks - from stone chips, obviously!!

thanks - did you just paint the hammerite onto the rust spots or did you do the whole bumper?
also was it smooth finish or hammered finish?

If you want to save yourself a few bob, have a look in the kitchen cupboard and see if you've got a spare pot of peanut butter (smooth preferably!).

This stuff is brilliant for doing any car/black plastic bumpers etc - honest!

There's something in the peanut/s that is a natural oil and you just need to apply a bit of cloth and then rub the plastic - our vans have the steel bumpers of course, but if you have any other cars that have plastic bumpers, etc, and it brings them up a treat!

Doing the grill can be bit more tricky though because the vents are quite close, but any other bits (like air ducts at back), works great.

PS. Wouldn't want to make a sandwich from the jar after if you've been dipping your dirty cloth in it though Probably best to keep this jar just for your motor!
