Smaller oil filter lowers pressure a bit I did some comparisons when I was considering a speedshop exhaust.

My sandwich plate has only connection for sensor not for an oil cooler.

Appologies for previous hijack.........

Looks like yours is just a plain sandwhich plate for sensor take off only so no thermostat to worry about.

You mention the low temperature is a new development - have you changed anything else recently?

D'Oh! You did say that earlier. Sorry.

jacobh wrote:Yes I use a sandwich plate like that. And a smaller oil (Saab 900 -> Mann 712/80 ) filter as the original is to large because of the exhaust pipe.

For the record, the MANN 713/19 is a slightly bigger filter than that 712/80 (only 23mm shorter than the original, rather than 43mm shorter), and has the same 1 bar bypass valve pressure as the original 719/12. It fits nicely between a sandwich plate and the Speedshop exhaust. It's used on a lot of Fords (e.g. Mk1 Mondeo 1.8TD), so is easy to get hold of.

I'm not sure but I don't think sandwich plate will work for oil pressure sensor shown in Jacob's pic

you need to be in the main oil gallery I think not the low pressure side of the filter housing

its all after pump all high pressure BBB has just done tue same.
pressure either side of filter can't be much different I'd think

For exact values measuring at the oil filter is perhaps not the best spot but that wasn't my intention.

I place the gauges to monitor the engine and I choose a spot that seemed easy to install and I thought
if I allways measure on the same spot I can compare the values.

For almost 2 years I had the same values and behaviour but now not anymore without changes to the system.
But now writing this I realised that I removed in December the rear heater core under the rear bench and replace the
T fittings with straight fittings. But I don't think it would have such an impact that my oil temp is now lower and having
a better pressure.
