Have you put a new clutch master cylinder on ? If not then change that before doing anything else.

I haven’t but it was all working perfectly well before, I have no reason to think it isn’t working now?

Just a thought but as i mentioned mine gave up suddenly on a trip when the seals perished giving me mither.

Right the clutch plate was on the right way around. It’s all back together and bled, fingers crossed... I jammed a piece of wood under the arm that the slave cylinder moves to close the slave cylinder when I bled it. I read it was somewhere it was better?

Nope.
Bled everything up again, the clutch is still not disengaging. I could understand if it was only working at 70 or 80% if there was air in the system or something wasn’t quit clearing something else but with the clutch to the floor and in first gear it rocks forward when on the starter. It is REALLY not working. I can’t figure out what else I can do.

Are you sure the master isn't goosed, only saying this as i had the same symptoms ?

Well i am going on the plan that it was ok before? And there are no leaks? The van is raised up at the back, could that be causing an air gap somewhere?

I had similar symptoms with cable clutch.
Had left van standing for a bit(weeks) and the clutch plate had bound to flywheel.
Had to drop engine and clean flywheel and plate.

There is something else and its been suggested by more than one person - time to change the clutch master cylinder. I have a spare one that I removed when I had problems with my slave and then my gearbox was playing up. It was a cheap one and im not going to use it myself so you can have it for postage only if you don't want to buy a new one.

Worth a go, mine didn't leak but had knackered seals. It would be one more thing to rule out and it's a straightforward job to replace. Fresh fluid and a bleed through. I had to bleed mine for a while then go for a run and do it again as i couldn't get first gear. Apparently it will self bleed if you open the bleed screw and leave it but haven't done it that way.

If you are not sure about the master cylinder:

Get someone else to operate the clutch pedal and measure how far the piston moves.

Then remove the slave cylinder and repeat. The measurements should be the same, if they are not then I think you will find that fluid will be getting past the seals on one of the cylinders.

Guys, thanks for the advice. Before I read these comments, I ordered a master cylinder from Brickwerks! I couldn’t see a problem with it because it was working fine before, but I now see things differently.
The cylinder would have been empty for a few weeks and it was hot, the seals could have dried up, rubber gets brittle when old so I can see that there might be issues.
Just about everything is crossed now, if this doesn’t work, it will be towed to a garage!
