On a WBX I don't believe it's possible to replace (or reseal) a leaky pushrod tube without taking the head off, with all that entails. Tappet replacement requires the pushrod tubes to be removed.
On an Aircooled they can be done in situ.
Others may know more

The only advantage over standard is that it is easier and quicker to change a tappet without destroying the standard tube, never yet had a leaky standard tube, just make sure that you stretch them before reassembly.

Cheers. Does that mean you can re-use standard ones? As long as you stretch em first and fit new seals.

Yep, you can reuse them, I bought a batch that had come off of a 2.1 which had been re-stretched and new seals added. Can’t remember the minimum length they have to be, but pretty sure it’s in the Haynes.

Yes you can reuse, I have done by extending them rolling a thin piece of aluminium in a number of grooves to open them up, as said length in haynes.
I have been binning stock tubes there seems to be no demand.
For me the advanages of the telescopic is that when assembling it's a fiddle getting all the push rod tube aligned and in place while bolting the head down but more important is changing tappets as said.
I have changed tappets twice with my telescopic tubes.
You can remove standard tubes later if you need to change a tappet but it's going to be a right pain becuse you can't saw them or you will get swaf inside, crush and bend out I have read but never done it.
I have used the Scat big mouth.

Iv'e been meaning to ask, do you use the seals that come with the Scat tubes or use the Rienz ones, still a way off for me yet as doing bodywork while the sun shines.

Bigmouth now have good quality seals so I used them, the seals are same smaller size both ends so you could use the Reinz ones for one end, say lower end if you think they are better.
I use some vaseline on the orings so they slide nicely.
