Shocking story.....
So, if I've got it right, you are using the original type dvda dizzy, amp and coil on the CU
and the Powerspark on the CT....
A cheap ignition tester

with an added spark plug end and a modified ht lead to make it more useful, makes life easier..
The only times I have come across a visible exterior spark around the base of a dizzy, there is a bad earth from the dizzy body to the crankcase,
only visible when cranking..and the engine will not start..and you are trying to find the timing..
