Probably just the opposite, Kev. Icing is most common at around 5-15°C, and high humidity. When it's colder, the air is often much drier so it's less likely that condensed water vapour will freeze in the venturi.

OK not our climate I agree.
But it's more likely in Aircooled engines, than with water cooled, All that hot coolant flowing around the manifold its less likely imo.
I was under the impression the carb heaters turn off at 67deg.
When the temp2 sender switches off the inlet heating curcuits.
I personally don't think its an issue., on a WBX.
More than enough latent heat to stop icing.

I'm not convinced on Aircooled being worse on a T25.
On a CU the Solex carbs are just above the heads, with a short distance for conducted heat to raise the temperature of the carb, whereas on a WBX the single central carb is away from the heat of the head and relies on two heat transfer operations engine > coolant, coolant > carb, to warm the body of the carb.
update: I suspect that's why the electric carb heating is on the WBX engines

Yes, I agree. Probably being rear engined helps a lot. Some carb models suffer with it much more than others. The Pierburg doesn't seem prone to it on a wbx, but may be on a front engined vehicle and no manifold heating.
Barring one unhappy chap, I hear the overwhelming majority feel Brosal works very well indeed without the heater. And it's possible to drill and tap if you really wanted to add it.

Nope, not been asked for one. There's rarely anything wrong with a Pierburg that can't be fixed.

Update: fitted a few Brosuls now, first impression was ok, but a bit of a faff to set up properly out of the box, but worked alright. Unfortunately the longer term experience was not so good. Had a couple of failures, overfuelling and flooding, idle issues, choke failure. I sent two back for refunds, and I no longer fit them.
