As I said before the bare engine is the same, ancillaries and wiring are different.

Yep - that's all there is to it. That's what I'd do.
It's worth checking the end float while the engine's out though, regardless of the flywheel/torque converter option. Firstly it'll tell you something about the degree of wear in the engine, and secondly, if it needs adjusting (take the flywheel off, get new shims to take up the excess float) it's much easier to do while the engine's out.
