So just starting this job....
Bought the replacement panel and new rail..
But... the new panel is flat, whereas the van has a concave section for the rail spring arrangement to sit in, photos attached.. has anyone had the same problem??

Looks like you have done a good job there along with the fabrication of the concave part :ok

Definitely been the hardest job so far, fabricating not my strong suit, patience the same...
Very fiddly..

Finished the main work, new rail in place, door opens, closes and runs ok on the rail.. really good weld every inch or so, was going to seam it, but access with my welder is awkward..window aperture to finish, welds to grind back, prime and little bit of filler to smooth.. door needs adjustment but expected that as had all the hinges off as couldn’t remove door from runners due to space around the van..!

Could have drilled through from inside the van then spot welded the rail on the new panel :ok

Had to replace all the inner panel mounting area, and to be honest welding to the nice flat outer panel seemed a better option..
Did weld the inner panel to the outer panel, just seemed a ‘better’ option to weld as I did..
If I could have sourced a new panel for the inner panel would def have spot welded through..
Found the fabrication of the inner panel to be a bit of a nightmare due to its form..

The outer panel was a pretty easy fit, bit of fettling around the concave section.. but a decent panel.
Drilled guidance holes to locate the actual rail.. so pretty sure of location.
Think I would have also welded the outside even if I had spot welded..
Oh well, pretty pleased for my first ( and probably last ) attempt :D

Thanks for the updates and pictures.
After waiting nigh on 3 months for heritage to take delivery of my runner & C pillar I finally have the bits to do the job... good to know what lies ahead! Cheers!
