its a long time ago now, but symptoms fit yours, however we never got past bleeding it up really before we took it out and investigated, as it was on unknown ( supposedly good) replacement engine we were putting in ....
you cant see soo well in the pics, but a pin hole through from the water gallery into the combustion chamber ......

There's not a lot of meat there in the first place. Can you tell from the photo what cylinder the hole is in and is it the same cylinder that runs the hottest? Can you see where I'm going with this?

Well I won't be getting a sniff test done tomorrow as I just burst the sodding bleed screw on my radiator. Happy days. :(
Hope you have better luck ghost123.

Well I did not have the luck you wished me Highroller :(

A sniff test proved positive.

So, that might be the deal breaker.
Please leave any comments about that aspect on this thread = https://club8090.co.uk/forum/viewtopic.p ... 1&start=30" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Why dont you slap some "K" seal in it then, you have nothing to loose now, and everyone seems to be sure it doesnt damage anything else

That hole is where the top barrel seal is, its not into the compression chamber because there is a barrel between.
Once the water seal fails the compression seal will fail too from corrosion.

To be honest, I tried that a week ago. It was the dearer version of K-Seal at £30,

Which of the cylinders runs the hottest? I have been told but I can't remember!

Simple solution .. https://club8090.co.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?f=17&t=155412 ... Talk to the man.

Flog your old engine to recoup some money. As Steve said flog the Rocco ... after all you can only really have 1 mid-life crisis vehicle. If the missus is acting up anyway you've nowt to lose have you ? :(

Aye, I have been weighing up the pros and cons of that ^^^

Ian Hulley wrote:Flog your old engine to recoup some money.
Yep

Ian Hulley wrote:As Steve said flog the Rocco ...
That option is tricky on a number of counts. If anything was to go wrong with the van, like now, I need the Rocco as a backup to get to work and back. Plus, although I paid for it, and have paid for ALL the servicing, tyres, mot's insurance etc ever since we got it, it's in her name on the receipt. Big mistake I know, but she was a nice girl back then.

Ian Hulley wrote:If the missus is acting up anyway you've nowt to lose have you ? :(
Acting up, jeez, remember my other thread about this (in Members Only chat). She has gone totally loopy recently. I won't go on about it on this thread (in Mechanical :roll: ) but I was out yesterday evening, helping a mate. I left my expensive Sony Experia phone on the coffee table by mistake. It rang and she threw it so hard against the wall it is smashed to pieces. A bit more on the other thread = https://club8090.co.uk/forum/viewtopic.p ... 1#p8159451" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Just rang Mick (or I think it was his son) = it's already gone anyway.
