Eureka. Found thread. Lot of pages as it was the initial exploration of this subject but it covers much.

Bricky also stocks the bezels which are the right way to fit them but do cost about the same as the headlights, however I presume they have to be shipped in etc. The bezel has to be 7" with equally spaced screw holes to line up, something you don't get on most Brit cars like minis, moggis, Land Rover etc which are offset screw holes.

T25 headlight frames were clearly dual use - ie for both US and European markets. Most people don't notice. I used Brit bezels (Land Rover ones) as I wanted stainless but they did require zip ties to hold them secure. You can't see ties once they're on though.
You could also (although I didn't like the look) use 7" stoneguards and zip those on - about £11 a pair
