Are all the fuses OK? Yours may be no. 11 for the washers. Look for 15amp ones (blue) that have blown.

Without getting you to start tracing the power at the switch with a multimeter we may well have reached the end of remote diagnosis now. it may be a case of getting the electrician back as it does seem to point in his direction if they were working before his visit.

Thank you so very much. I will go and check the fuses again, no 11 and blue ones, and if not, I'll phone the garage....trouble is he is off on his holiday on Thursday, and I know he is really busy, but it'll be worth a try.
Thank you

Only one blue fuse and it, and it's fine, the others are too. So now to phone the garage.
Thank you

I had this (no washers) recently - it went away when I jiggled the plugs on the underside of the steering column. That also cured my non-parking wipers. You'll need to drop the underside of the steering cowling (two screws) to check these plugs, and then make sure they are pushed firmly home.
In my case, I need to pay attention to these plugs each time I do anything to the steering column, as when it's pulled fully 'up' the wires seem just a fraction too short. I probably need to pull a bit of slack through from somewhere.

One final question
If the washer bottle is full and I add water should it overflow from under the van? The bottled is that opaque I can't tell if it's full

If it's overflowing, then the seal that goes between the filler neck and the bottle itself has perished.

Mmmm, except when I add liquid it's coming from somewhere underneath sort of middle front, where I can't see, not running from the top of the bottle where the filler neck should go to the footwell
I think Victor may be jinxed, or maybe I just shouldn't expect to go camping in it, just spend hundreds of pounds on it and admire it in the drive (or the garage)
Am seriously fed up now.

Mine leaks the same - when my feet get wet I know that the bottle is full
We really need to know what he touched to be able to guess as to what has happened, only he knows! It is most probably something that we who are used to tracing wiring could solve quickly with a multimeter. Have you got as far as buying one yet - or are you trying to avoid getting that personal with Victor?

I can use a sewing machine, have recovered all his seats, done door cards, even made small scale bunting for Victor, can use a knitting machine, knit socks, do loads of stuff but no idea what a multimeter even looks like, never mind how to us one

and if it turns out to be something the sparky did, he needs to be looking over his shoulder
And no, that up close and personal with Victor I can't get, although I am finding I can do more than I thought
It's all fun, so I'm told
Sue
E D I T.....
Have been back out to show him indoors and actually located the correct tank/bottle

managed to get my fingers over the top to the grommet to be rewarded with a shower of screen wash....guess it's full then
However, the upside is that the three bolts are very visible and reachable and don't look rusted so.....I might, just might mind you, have a go at replacing the washer motor......yes? No? Stay away from the washer bottle?
So just what is the plastic tank at the rear of the near side wheel arch?

I was taught to use a sewing machine in the days when they were treadle machines, taught myself to embroider also. Gender is no barrier to anything that you want to do. ( I can still make a good job of darning socks and ganseys!

)
Simple fault tracing of wiring is easy to learn with no worrying voltages to surprise you (until you get to the spark plugs). Well worth trying as it is something that tends to be needed with these old girls/boys.

Oldie....gender has never stopped me doing things either, built walls, pointing, etc etc and maybe I do need to learn this new skill, but just right now, this month, this minute I have absolutely no energy left to learn anything, it's been a tough couple of months and I just want to go on holiday. At least I've finally located the right bottle and found that the three nuts don't look rusted or rotten so might be able to fit a new motor, if that's what is wrong.
Now if anyone is a dog phsychologist I need one of those as well.....
