There will be no flow through it because the pressure will be the same at both ends once the valve in the dalek cap opens and before it opens no flow is possible. Only concern is if the dalek cap is faulty, ie can suck through it and blow through without it "quacking".
So test dalek cap, replace if faulty, reconnect pipe to tank and blank off stub on engine.

Unless someone knows where the stub on the engine should connect to.

Cheers for that marlinowner appreciate the help, I will do that when I get home tonight. If I take off that tube will I be letting air into the coolant system at the engine side, by that I mean will there be a pressure difference so the coolant system will try to suck air in when I disconnect the hose?

i think you may have an engine out of a golf? On the donor car the flange on the side of the head has that small spigot and a hose runs back to the tank, kind of a bleed i think..

You need to get the correct flange for a jx engine and fit it. then you can connect the top up tank properly..

or just cap off the spigot.

Couldn't tell you what engine it is. Is there any identifiers? I would rather set it up properly than just be capping hoses off. Is there a name for that flange if that's the case?

Does your have one or two temp senders fitted to it?

Ah well will order that and get it fitted at the weekend. In terms of temp sendors, on that flange there is a plug into some sensor which has 4 thin wires coming out of it. I am not sure if that is the temp sensor for the gauge in the dash. There is also a spade connection on the engine block itself that i am unsure if that is the coolant temp sensor. Trying to upload pictures there now to show.

There is another type with a hole for one sender as opposed to two. so you might as well get the right one. That Brickwerks site has them all listed

In this picture you can see the plug part of the connection in the flange. Pipework stops it being a decent picture but you can see it from behind in the next picture. I think this is the temperature gauge sensor?




In this picture you can see the spade connection to the engine that i think is the coolant temp sensor and you can see in the blue circles the 4 wires coming from the connector block in the picture above on the flange.

The one on the back of the head is the oil pressure switch

Ah right cheers for that, I appreciate the time you have taken to help me. So the one going to the flange Is a temp semder sensor so. That would mean I hope that I have only one unless I am missing something. Which is also a possibility lol.

No problem, to be honest it all depends what someone has done when they carried out the engine conversion. The engine you have there is not the original 1.6. Its a 1.9, so they could have done anything with the loom and senders. If yours has one sender, but you've bought that flange with two holes for senders, just stick another sender in it to seal it off.

Well senders and the flange aren't expensive so I will just order them. Would you think that connector block in the flange Is the coolant temp sender? None of the ones on brickwerks look like it but it's to dark now to look properly to confirm that.

On mine that is where the coolant sender is (for the gauge in the dash pod)

clean up that little bunch of wires; yellow red is the gauge signal wire and trace back
Syncrosport website has wiring diagram for JX on I think so you can work out what is what
