You could well be on a hiding to nothing, others have been there before and I am sure that 8 x 16" is not a size that will fit up front.
Good luck!

I'm going to have to change the rear studs, as well as the drums that are fitted so may as well fit and see what happens.
Worst thing is they don't feel right/or foul anything bar the door and I have to change.

If you cant get the front wheels to fit first, then you really are wasting your time.
Wheel arch and top wishbone are the limiting factors.
I have tackled more difficult jobs in my lunch breaks, take the advice of those that might just have been there before you

Why do you have to change the drums?

I had the front wheels on already. Sat fine and seemed OK.
I'm taking everyone's advise on board and thank you all for your help. Once I get the rear studs changed I cN try the van with the new wheels and see what's what.
Drums I want to change as they look in a very sorry state and need changing. If I am doubt the studs then I may as well change it all together.
Next to do will be the front discs.
Still need someone handy for the hinge problem.

They seemed okay but collective experience suggests that it's a fair bet they'll catch something when you go around corners or over bumps - hopefully you won't cause too much damage when they do.
I have to say it does sound a little bit like you'd maybe already made up your mind before you posted?

Well I wanted some advise that's why I posted.
I know there are plenty of people running larger wheels.

True in some respects, but what do you mean by larger? That's not really a decriotion used for wheels/tyres ,well not technicaly , you need to think rim diameter then 14.15.etc then tyre aspect ratio all these can be "larger"and can work , what folk are suggesting is that your st is way out of spec irrespective of how large you want to look , the et has massive impliications on steering geometry and safety just because it may geek ok to you means nothing and your not in a position to give an opinion in their suitability,
You might also consider insurance implications should you have a misshap also worst case vosa all things to consider ,
The above is to clarify that nothing wrong with changing wheels and the look but do it correctly within accepted technical bounds

Thanks for the link. I will take it all on board. I will check the fronts when fitted again at the weekend. If I have any doubt or it doesn't look great then I will put original steels back.
I do appreciate all your help as I am new to this.

This size will run fine on our vans. having run numerous sets of Pentas exactly the same with no issues or wheel bearings failing like the doom clan so often prescribe. As a precaution I always fitted new bearings just in case but the claim they would fail was never founded after running them on Syncros and lowered 2wd vans (including a heavy, lowered Westy).
Just make sure your bearings are good in the first instance and you use the correct fitting hardware. You should need a 5mm spacer on the front to clear the upper wishbone face. Some people grind it back but I don't advocate that method.
You will certainly need to do the slider mod though.

Now I'm confused, ha!
I would need someone to do the door hinge mod for me.

Your bus is an 84, could be a crossover model and this does have some bearing on the work involved.
PS what size tyres have you got on those 8 x 16" ?
