Having removed the glovebox and passenger airbag I now know the current flow diagram side notes to be wrong! HVAC unit on LHS and nothing else.
There is no way I am pulling the whole dash out. Life is too short, next breakdown it gets scrapped after 14 years loyal service.
Thanks for the advice.
PS is the aux heater (webasto?) worth removing?

Yes the webasto is Deffo worth having
I looked at buying a 4motion sharan a few months ago, and it too suffered from everlasting damp in the screens
Pleased I never went any further .....

Good car but at this age its been on borrowed time for a while. Shame as it has yet to reach 90k
I shall demolish the boot trim and unearth the webasto in due course

At under 90k that ADY will be a fine engine for a conversion.

That's debatable...I prefer the diesel shazzer over all the other options as a doner...the inconvenience ecu is under the passenger seat area ...and are very susceptible to water ingress...I remember doing these on brand new ones delivered with puddles in them!

Actually built by AutoEuropa which is/was joint owned by ford and vw...not sure who had the biggest shares etc but ford used vw engines in a lot of galaxy's but no sharans had ford engines...actually not a bad MPV but the interior was very ford looking and the doors and trims were as weak as pi55...think the gearboxes were Renault and despite being noisey were very strong...in fact all the running gear was.
What's this jelly bollox? More crispy than wobbly I would say..

LHD wiring diagram...I have a full sharan CFD and there are a lot of variations on model years etc..

Agreed. Not a bad old bus, interior made of cornflakes but switchgear ok. Gearchange too good to be VW, flick into any gear with one finger.
No modules under either front seat despite what anyone says, just two earth cables...

Just to prove me wrong it has decided to break both front door lock "bobbin" things.
Again.
Its a quick and cheap-ish fix but why are they so flinkin' brittle?
