Just popped back in to say
"you can on mine" = Sony Experia via Chrome. I just click on "Radio" on the BBC website, then find the world service icon, click on that and click the "play" button. Just checked it again now, seems to work fine.

The bbc media player app will be running in the background, it's fired up when you select "listen now" inchrome.

Ah, interesting. My BBC player app is broken. On launching it, it immediately comes up with an error message summat like "The BBC Media Player has stopped" then an option to report the error appears (but with no visible "send report" option

). This was how I discovered I could listen to Radio (etc) directly from Chrome. Perhaps parts of the App are still functioning in the background though? I may remove the BBC App(s) and see what happens.
