Hi All.
Thinking about this one, have to check what we are up to, but am I missing where it says costs?

The only costs Karl will be the campsite. Last year about £10 per night with hookup, £8 without.

This is very tempting, never been to the meeting, but travelled through Devon last summer and really liked it. Count me in, need to be in the UK the week after anyway.

Do we need to book in advance or just on arrival?

Just had a little Google trying to find the campsite and looks like it's up for sale. I assume it's the same place?

Yes it is... but don't worry. Might be the end of an era...
As was the very first one organised by CJ & friends... those Somerset lanes haven't been driven since but still haven't been forgotten - amazing.

Just a quick but important update for this event,
Julia and I have spent 4 days out and about checking the state of the lanes and many have had to be dropped from the routes of previous years due to subsidence and erosion, there are still plenty to drive and where possible we have tried to avoid those that can cause problems or damage BUT these lanes are still NARROW and OVERGROWN in places, There will be the inevitable SCRATCHES and marks on your van when you get back, please be aware of this.
We have tried to stick to MAP 115 for the Saturday outing and are planning a Dartmoor Trip for Sunday, MAP OL28, We hope to plan a lunch stop each day in a quiet scenic spot close to a good pub to give a choice for those who want to bring their own food or eat out.
We thought of an added extra which could be fun one evening, weather permitting.
There are several good local pubs within a 2 mile radius, most accessible via quiet mostly level back roads.
How many fancy cycling out for a pub meal, We have done it a few times now and it is a good laugh, we have 8 bikes between us so could loan a few out for those interested, alternatively we could also walk!?
Let me know if you are interested.
The Local pub in Kentisbeare has been a bit unreliable recently by the way due to staffing issues, so we have an excellent alternative but need to let them know if we decided to go there in any numbers, food beer and wine are all excellent, its the Blacksmiths Arms, Plymtree, 2 miles away by bike!!
Oh, One very important issue, we need to keep the number of vans to a maximum group of 5 in each convoy, so we need a volunteer to lead a second group at the present time.
We will have a spare Map to use for Saturday
See you all soon

Thanks Roger,
We will bring bikes so up for the pub on either evening.
Happy to help with a group of 5 if necessary although I've not led a group before. Have been last in group before which can be almost as important. I have the necessary maps for Sat and Sun.
Let me know - if you PM me I'll let you have my number and maybe we can speak?
Any news on the Baja guys?
Pete

All sounds good. We'll bring bikes too - if they'll fit in as packing for a week's travel.
Does anyone have a SWR meter and patch lead they can bring please? Just fitted a CB radio for the weekend, but not sure if it's set up correctly. There doesn't seem to be anyone locally using a CB to test it. Dead airwaves and nothing like I remember from my teenage years when CB's were the rage.

Not looking too good - exhaust problems (see post under General).
