When it comes to security i have a few surprises up my sleves for any unwanted guests.
Thanx for all well wishes.
The trip itself isnt that big,its the preping that has been a mountain this time round.
Having 2 little ones with u(ime not refering to Jake and Andrew)means things have to be preped with a lot more care and thought. This is refering to vehicle and supplyes etc.The route is still nice and open to change at any time.Like being in the dunes to watch some Lisbon-Dakar trucks fly past.

Doubt if you're planning a few rounds at any of these... but be fun to drive through their putting greens (yellow?)...

i found in east and southern africa that most golf clubs will let you camp in the grounds and usually have really good guards keeping an eye on things. plus youve got a nice bar to have a g and t in.

Cheers Jed, getting there, slowly, fitting it around work and do the preparing on cold winter nights . Claire's works party on Wednesday night, and we leave the following morning at 6! Think I might just put her to bed in the van...

Going anywhere near the Algerian Border?

Look out for donkeys carrying jerry-cans. Smuggled fuel. About 20p a litre. :P

Si - thanks yes I did get your details - sorry haven't replied to you sooner but I've been up to my eyes in it trying to get everything in place - seriously underestimated the ability of sods law to triple timescales...

Excitment starting to overcome panic at not getting everything done now - van won't be finished untill the day before we go (fingers crossed Pete!) but packing will commence as of tomorrow - will post some pics of the finished best towards the end of the week.

Thanks for all the positive vibes.

Thanks for the heads up - i'll try and avoid flicking any buts near the 'em - although barbequed donkey might make a nice change from cuscus...
