My CU engine had the same symptoms and the ignition amp solved the issue. (Although mine got so bad I could only do about one mile before it died and needed to leave it for ten minutes before returning home!)

I would expect that's fixed it.. 20-30 years life seems quite common for many of the T25s electronic components.

I would apply some thermal paste between the amplifier and heat sink.

Brickwerks included a small sachet in the box. But I've managed to 'borrow' a tube of Heat Sink Compound from work to add a little more :)
