So an update - broken bolt was flush with block. So removed mounting, engine bearer, heat shield and by gently tapping the broken bolt around the edge with a centre punch it gradually started to undo to the extent that I got some grips on it and it just unwound!!

One final question if I may? I managed to get an 80mm bolt and a 90mm high tensile 8.8 bolt. The spec is an 85mm.

So do I go for the shorter one or the longer one with a number of washers on it?

and what torque should they be please (sorry thats a second final question.

Thanks to all for their help with this.
Chris

Bearer bracket to crankcase 45Nm in Haynes ( you need one if you are doing this stuff)
If it were me I would cut 5mm from the 90mm bolt ( put nut on before cutting) but washers will do, needs to be 8.8

use coper grease liberally when replacing because of bimetalic corrosion

Just poped out and measured an early dg and bearer bracket for you, 25mm penetration into crankcase and bracket is 65mm thick

so 80 is too short, 90 may bottom out so cut 90 down or washers.
