Not ideal to work under a heavy object propped up by a piece of wood but then again I work under my van while on wooden blocks :lol:

Thanks everyone - you've all been so helpful. Im so relieved its the heater leaking and nothing more serious!
I only bought the van the 3 weeks ago and already I've had to have a new starter motor put in! For those that don't know, it was my van 7 years ago, i've bought it back off my friend!

So, OldiebutGoodie - its a petrol automatic 2.1 fuel injected engine. I think I'll need to do some research on a D2. I'm going to check to see if it works tomorrow after work. Is there anything I should know? I guess I just need to turn the control dial? :-/

Thanks for the advice on the struts...they were fine before the bike rack went on...I guess that is pretty heavy to have hanging off the back! I might actually take off.
The bit of wood thing though, yes sounds like a plan!

It may not be a D2 it is hard to tell from the photo. If you haven't got a small fuel tank at the end of the Eberspächer's fuel line and it is plumbed into the vehicles fuel system you have a petrol model of some sort.
Check the fuses around that mass of wiring that was hidden away and then turn the control knob up to 4 and see if there any signs of life.

I bought new struts when I put my bike rack on as like you the tailgate wouldn't stay up. Just browsed my vast ebay purchase history and I got these.

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/PAIR-REAR-HAT ... 5b0f1d6c7c" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Been on the van almost a year and have been great...although from new they do 'fling' the tail gate open and you need to put some effort in to get them to close again :)
