Ok guy at volkscentre had a look and could not pinpoint problem and basically said he did not have the time to look for fault.
So when I got back I had another look
Things I have checked/done
.taken of all air intake hoses and breather and cleaned and checked for holes and put back on...OK
.checked turbo for movement on shaft and propellers look fine..OK
.checked oil drain for block edges...OK
.changed blow off valve..ok
.ckecked oil level..ok
I did notice smoke coming out of exhaust pipe were it bolts to the turbo when I revved up.so had a closer look and found the gasket has worn down and a gap were the exhaust pipe has rusted.
Would this cause a blowing noise under high revs as if the turbo was boosting ????

The gasket is cheap.." Brickwerks " but be careful not to snap the studs! My daughter says" plenty of plus gas n soak it lots of times" .
I'd be looking for leaks on the exhaust to cylinder head seal ( gaskets/ loose studs).
Look in the " wiki" about exhaust manifold warping.

Well there's not much pressure at the exhaust side of the turbo until the wastegate opens.. usually between 7 and 10 psi. boost.
Then it might well cause that sound which fits with your symptoms. With a boost gauge you'd probably be able to see if the events are synchronised.
All the inlet and boost pipes and tubes are always oily inside. . Ignore unless it's running on.. and if it was you'd know it.
But fix the exhaust leak anyway.
Be 'very careful' with oil level... they are critical. There may have been a reason the dipstick plastic was like that... or the PO may have been aright one

4.5 litres from empty incl. filter. Run for a minute or two leave to drain down for 5 or 10 on a level surface then dip 2 or 3 times.
Should be pretty close to max. Mark but wherever make a mental note and use that.
Don't overfill.
Don't let it drop more than say 1/2 max. before topping up.

Yes and as Dave says you're much more likely to get (and hear) a leak from the manifold. Partic cyls 3 and 4. They have ' special ' studs nuts and washers and all but one hole is oversize for expansion at red heat.
Its not a fun or easy job in situ but possible. If its been messed with before or never touched still a potential minefield due steel corrosion and an alloy head
. Studs must be well home in threaded head. Etc etc

Are you sure that the noise isn't just the turbo " spooling up"?
Would be good to hear the noise!

Dave I will try get someone drive it and I will video it but not sure how to post video on here.
HarryMann I don't think I want to attempt the manifold it may go horribly wrong

you could have a problem with the bov opening and closing very quickly! as I said stick a cork in it ,just to eliminate it.

Just had quick look at exhaust manifold and found this.
At the same time I revved engine hard and put hand around exhaust manifold to feel for blowing air.i could feel small amount coming from it ?

Well...that will be it! see if those two studs come out of the manifold [with the nuts rusted on].
