Thanks for that Dave, I'd rather get the info straight, particularly when wishful thinking threatens my marriage/bank balance/sanity. I've also heard from Andy at Syncrosport, who dispelled my belief that the ASY would be a 'straight in' fit, saying it would also require modification to the sump, engine mounts etc. Time for a rethink...start a new thread on Wartburg two stroke transplants?

Ah, another stroker fan
I've got MZ 2 and 4 stroke bikes and like the Wartburgs too, got no room for one tho.
Yea, the ASY is based on the same block as the ASV in my MK4 golf, it's a totally different casting so would require substantial modification of the mounts and sump (the JX/AFN sump has a bulge out the side) So I'd definitely forget that.
Dave.

I'm glad I'm not the only person who pines for the days when MZs roamed the earth...I had to keep it a secret from my Brit bike owning peers, a bit like owning up to liking country music or experimental jazz....it takes all sorts

My 2-stroke is currently in bits, but this is my 500 - 4 stroke which still terrorises the A-roads every so often
I never got the urge for Brit bikes. Just oddball German bikes, lunar milage golf's and crusty old VW busses.
Dave.
