All you need is something like http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/281298926731" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; or http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/111124455036" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; at the simplest. Wire a socket in under the seat, plug it in (or hard-wire to a fuse/breaker), snip the croc clips off and hard-wire them to the leisure battery, and job's a good 'un.

Thanks for the links and advice, I have always been unsure as to whether leaving a charger connected whilst the engine is running was OK to do

I think it’s smart to configure half the lights on transformer and half of them directly connected the battery, however leaving lights on in a van is not always a very good idea. What you can do is connect the battery powered light to two modes of switches. First one can have just a single switch which turns all the lights on and the second mode can have multiple switches as required for different lights so that your daughter only turns on the lights that she wants.
