It's certainly an appealing mod 8) . Sorry for thread digression

PS why does the regulator have an RJ45 network port on?

Think the above is the same unit.

Rj45 for the display, nothing more exciting it seems. This also explains why it has a temperature sensor input, I was wondering why it might need one, the display will show the time and the temperature!

Yet another thread that is encouraging me to spend money on stuff I didn't know I needed yet. It can join the long list..!

To complete the thread hijack

Found this when thinking about what you could use an arduino for on the van - as usual someone is ahead of the game! This would be a nice addition to the solar setup to see what it's really doing, could add amps draw and amps in to see the whole picture

That's a dead battery there.
No amount of recharging will redeem it..not even divine intervention.
For a battery to be left in such a discharged state for so long means the plates will be sulphated up.
It's dead
defunct
It is no more.
The ensuing winter will kill it even more.
Don't waste your time, just replace it and disconnect it when you leave it, with a battery switch like the one mentioned.
Take it on the chin and move on.

As for security, if you leave it for any length of time immobilise it, alarms can be silenced in seconds... or six weeks :D

So as an update (and to bring the thread back on topic) :D :D

I have hooked up the battery to a trickle charge over christmas. Its reading 12.5v at rest. Reconnected it to the van and still nothing :(
Left the battery in the van overnight last night (it was very cold) and reconnected it, so that the alarm was on, this morning the reading is 12.5v
So, just taken the battery out and down to Halfords for a test and they say its fine and its a good battery. :? So if its not the battery, it must be something else - electrical - blown fuse somewhere??? :?:

Before I start fiddling around a couple of observations: When I reconnect the battery there is a whirring sound from under the rear seat (I think). The other strange thing I noticed this morning is that the Eberspacher timer unit isn't working when the battery is re-connected - it worked before.
But when I turn the ignition - nothing - no clicking, zilch, just silence.

Any thoughts?

To finish the thread off, in case there is anyone else in this predicament in the future. I called the RAC out, he gave it the once over, the verdict was it was the starter, managed to bump start it easily, so took it into local garage for repair, new starter fitted, back on the road.

Now going to invest in a spare starter battery hooked up to a battery conditioner/charger for next winter, but delighted to get her back on the road for summer.
