Our Royal Traveller Annex gave up mid holiday this summer (flexible hoop tunnel design, hoops became too flexible, and broke...), so we roved the campsite looking at alternatives, and shelled out on a new Khyam motor dome when we got home - had to search to find one tho but it was at the end of the camping season. People said it could be put up by one person in 10 mins, and when it arrived I put it up, checked it and took it down SINGLEHANDED in 35 mins flat. yet to use in anger, but looking forward to it. Ours has a separate sleeping annex which sleeps 4!

Outwell County Road. Great awning with great ground sheet. This was or first time with it this weekend. Not a great photo as space to take picture was limited due to trees so you may want to google other images.

Really impressed with it for the money

Am looking for a driveaway and am gradually coming to terms with the questions to ask! Re yours. Does the awning clear the rear of the sliding door on opening or does the door try and rip the awning?

We've got the Vango airbeam awning - pricey, but easy to put up / put away once you've done it a couple of times. It's huge inside (especially if you remove the internal bedroom), sewn in ground sheet etc (and we splashed out for the carpet, so that our 6 month old could roll around happily!). Here's how happy it made the good lady:



No, hang on, that was the chocolate she found. But we do like the awning...

Downsides? It's big + heavy, even when packed away - we hired a trailer for our round-europe trip, so that we could keep the van as empty as possible. Also, using the standard straps over the roof of the van, we did have to be careful opening the sliding door (I put some pipe insulation over the corner to protect the canvas). I've bought the pole and clamp kit now, so hopefully that'll solve the problem, though I've not tried it yet. Roll on Summer...
