V5 registration probably wrong, some people are happy to drive a van with a v5 that doesnt match

Sorry about being slightly short before, head spinning from things already. TY for all the help thus far. I had to go to Durham for a new passport so could not get on again til now.

On the vehicle; it was registered as an LT 45 originally (in 1987) but was sold as a t25 & has been for several previous sales. Can provide the registration or the vehicle check documents if any of that helps.

Also have pictures of the stamping on the side of the engine, although the serial number is hidden from view via the coolant (I assume its the coolant)manifold.

Answers to questions:
The engine is indeed rear mounted. Pictures above
ghost123uk - the carb .has a 45 degree mounting on the manifold to allow it to fit into the engine bay. See Carb "mounting" pic.

as you know this is an LT45


clearly your van is not one of those.
It is, and always has been, a VW Transporter commonly known as a T25 or T3.
There has been an error on the reg docs.

Well hopefully with you guys (& gals?) help progress can be made. On all aspects of this "mystery machine".

So to the issues...
Do you know what carb is fitted to the engine?

I can see the problem... the battery is not connected

I can see the coil sitting in a very unsatisfactory place.. right next to the head and over the exhaust/inlet manifolds.
They don't like being hot.. I would to test this to see if it works properly.

Hello OP here, created my own a/c so that I stop using my misses.

Unfortunately not, have not been able to ID it via the Haynes manuals, also it seems that the two halves of the carb. are fused together (when removed them could not for the life of me separate them. From my understanding that should not be the case? Will most likely remove the carb tomorrow and take detailed photo's of it to try to get some clarity on the chaos of this machine

On the note of the carb. was informed on another forum that the is a filter on the intake of the carb. so going to remove it to hunt for this as well.

True, I tend to disconnect it whenever I play around with parts of the engine (even if just removing an air filter) im not paranoid.... much

In the top left of the engine bay? (Sorry for newb questions but better to check?). How much space is wanted from the coil to the manifold? It currently has about 4-5 inches at least.

Also wouldn't a coil issue stop the spark plugs from sparking?

So an aftermarket carb then.

I think it's a golf/jetta engine with the pierburg junked for the weber

Hang on...STOP messing around with stuff you will never fault find that way
you didn't mention you had the carb appart, we cant help fault find remotely without all the info of whats happened

can i suggest going back to the start and explain what you have done... exactly and when
