Quite possible! Will investigate further tomorrow. In theory if I earth pin six, the needle should react confirming the printed circuit is healthy. Which temp sensor controls the gauge and where is it located?

Should be on the thermostat housing and should have the yellow/red wire going to it.

Right so checked the wiring on the switch, bridged the cables and the gauge moved, so that makes it a broken sensor?

If when you say moved, you mean it slowly went all the way over to the right end, then yes, the sensor looks like it's duff. Hate to be predictable, but I recommend you buy it from Brickwerks because at least you can be sure you are going to get the right thing delivered and it will be of good quality ;)

Hopefully ill be able to source the correct one through work, but failing that ill be contacting bw.
