although people normally run at the mention of k jet .

if its setup properly , its uber reliable and gives great performance ..

kjet over digifant any day for me :)

Right.... I'm not sure that has been done all that well! However I'm sure it has all the bits you need for a solid runner :)

However in the first picture you can see the square idle control valve.

I would start bay checking it have 12v with ignition on from cold and that all the pipes are air tight and free from holes

Also below the isv I think I can see an aux air valve again check the pipes for any leaks. If it's not there then this is a likely problem!

Another super important thing is that the inlet to airbox is sealed tight as the amount of air controls the fuel control flap/ meter

Out of interest once warmed up does it run correctly and what's the idle speed?

Chris appears to know about the voodoo that is k-jet :mrgreen:

Only thing i would add is that the wiring to the box in the first pick looks like its on its last legs, although its blurred , wires look very worn/frayed. 12v/continuity check as Chris said but maybe a visual check might do it, 5 mins soldering a new plug on, even if its a plug cut off a scrap loom might be a start :ok

Thanks for your help guys and for uploading the pics for me, I've found a split in the vacuum pipe from the dizzy I'll replace this and report back as soon as I get time and yes the van runs perfect when warmed at around 900 rpm

Hi guys it looks like my van has been wired up by An idiot, none of the sensors have a 12v supply? and the idle control valve is wired to a switch on the dashboard. Has anyone got a simplified wiring diagram or can give me any ideas I would be great full.

The aux air valve that sits on top of the inlet manifold is only connected at that end, should the other end go in the air box? There is a hole that's been plugged up?

Although I have owned a K-Jet'd Scirocco, I can be of little help (as mine never put a foot wrong in 5+ years of ownership). However I have a suggestion. It is hard from those pictures for anyone to work out what might not be doing what it is supposed to. How about finding a local person who has a MK1 or MK11 Golf GTi or a Scirocco GTX and comparing what they have under the bonnet to what you have. You could even find one in a scrappy and make notes and take pictures. (some Passats had the DX engine fitted too)



Aside = My current Scirocco (a "keeper") is a carb'd one but is way quicker than my old GTX, go figure...
This is why I put fancy brakes and suspension on it.

If nothing has the correct 12v it's never going to work that well. Likely the majority for the things just need 12v live, can't remember if the aux air valve has a times live or fill time however.
Should be pipes a bit like this

So let lost the important sensors

WUR - 12v always
Isv - 12v at warm up?
Aux air valve - 12v at warm up?
5th injector - not needed in the country
Throttle switch- I think involved with the isv


I think you can get away with just sorting the WUR, aux air valve as early Kjet did not have an isv at all

On tracing wiring I've found a switch wired to isv, this has detached it's self from somewhere I added a 12v supply to this and when turned on it makes the tickover rise as if the choke is working I am also having trouble starting the van, it turns over for ages before it fires?

Could be so many things. Air leaks often cause issues or it could be times wrong etc. did you fix the vac pipe to the dizzy?

Yes I have changed the vac pipes, the aux air valve that's is bolted on the inlet is not connected at one end it has a small k&n style filter on it, should this connect into the air box?

The turning over problem was just a fuse it now starts straight away, can anyone tell me if thermo sensor that controls the cold start should have a permanent live or just run when the starters cranking?
