My silencer is starting to look like it will need replacing this year I reckon.

I think I will get one of those (when I have sold the other van and have got more spare cash !)

I know they're expensive but I think they're worth the money , a quick question , would the exhaust effect the cooling system ? the reason I ask is I went along the motorway to the nec today and the temp gauge stayed below the centre where before it would be just over the centre , the silencer I had on before was a cheese empi box

perceptibly, it will be extracting more so increasing the efficiency of the motor, which is one of the reasons we built intricate/tuned systems for racing etc. surprised it made enough difference to show on the gauge but...............

One word = thermostat - think about what it does, ie, regulates the engine coolant temp to xx degrees regardless of external influences ;)

indeed but if the same stat is fitted now and for the changes made the engine is not attaining the same temp as before then that external cause will show, its a bit hard to explain really

Here's shots of our Speedshop one. Funny think is the level of corrosion on the flanges. Surely these can't be carbon steel welded to the stainless?

You see in the pic that bracket fastened to the forward side of the silencer to the pipe, how many folks have found it breaks ? Mine has. Apparently it is a common thing but does not seem to matter (so I have read). Mine has been broken for a year with no ill consequences so far.

Just out of interest what did the fitting cost you? I am thinking of getting the same one and need to get a local garage to fit it for me.
