what did you make the spreader plates out of (thickness) and where did you get it? (no access to knockoff materials at work)

I bought them off the shelf in B&Q
I had no time to knock something up so got them from there. They are expensive though (not really surprising from B&Q)

I used these as spreaders. Galvanised steel
