Lateral thinking...Airbeam Kela awning with built in bedroom and event camp bed....I have one and it's awesome. Even brand new a fraction of the price of roof options, adds more living space and goes up in minutes. I used to hate putting my previous awning up especially for a one night stopover but with the Airbeam Kela it is no hassle. No affiliation etc!

mine doe 25mpgh on a run on a good day so by my reckoning thats not realy any difference

why dont you just empty your high top and turn it into a bed area?

keep all the old bit in the attic and you can refit it all if you sell the van or the child stops going with you?

I've thought about doing that but its not that long really and I worry that the hightop isn't that strong and stripping out the cupboards might weaken it
