i find it quite handy for my charging system to charge the starter as well, especially as they are intelligent chargers so actually condition the batteries too. As you i have flattened my battery a few times...
As said above a 30amp charger on a 60ah battery could cause issues. My 25amp one charges one starter and two leisures, which all together are over 200ah
