Advice is free, all of us were new ... some of us have been here longer than others (9 and 1/2 years for us) and we used to get the old "Pah ! Not talking to 4 figure membership numbers" joke from JaneH1. There IS a clique ... come to any meet and you'll usually find a large circle of it, pull up a chair and the clique will open to be larger and you're in. Ask any question you like and someone who has either broken it themselves and/or fixed it themselves will help you.

There is a clique on here, in my opinion.
My opinion differs from yours.
But I wont shoot you down in flames for having it.
That would be a clique response.
Lots of good folks around, its when a group of the "established members" start roaming as a pack that the clique forms.
cliques do Forums no good at all, and should be outed.

Chill and learn
:pimp

there is no clique, there and friendships and in jokes and if it worries you that you don't get the joke then move on to the next thread, all you are doing is making it hard for yourself to get replies to your questions embrace the club don't alienate yourself with your childish signature, as said previously read and learn.

if there is a clique, dear members please ignore the above......... can I join please, oh please, please, please let me join

Guy's

Didn't the old BMC minis have this sort of thing on them and a lever that switched air filter from summer to winter mode?

I.e - In the colder months the carb had a warming air effect from the exhaust manifold

Or is this a another old car that i'm thinking of?

It might be a piece of old construction plant - LOL

Anyway

Not getting a joke is something completely different to being treated in a condescending and disrespectful way.
Thanks for your opinion regarding my sig.
It will be ignored.

Anyway

Many of the b series Morris engines that were on cars sold for the UK market had a summer and winter position for the air intake.
Which made me question the suitability of ripping out the VW warming apparatus.
Unfortunately, certain folks dont like questions being asked which provoke some thought :rofl

Never seen that before.
Having read it :
I would suggest that a certain minority of your "established" members are acting in ways that would give credence to the bad press.
Which is a great shame for the majority.
