If I flat it with 800 or 1000 could I then just lacquer it.? Would the scuffing show through?

hi paul if you had cut hinges at the longest section you would only have needed one weld instead of 2 thats how i make them making hinge easier to do, did you drain the compressor of before spraying i would flat of with 1500/2000 paper

Hi Faggie, yeah will do with the 1500 to 2000, I will give it a try. Also your right I didn't empty the trap!!

and it was a warm day too!!.
Regards to the hinge, I only had 1 hinge not 2 so had my mate turn some steel for me to make the desired length. I tried to find another early hinge but couldn't get one.
Cheers.

That's good to know Dazco, cheers. I've always loved hot rods and I guess this is mine so you have to flake the dash!!!
Which I did today!! Got quite a few runs though and loads of orange peel! Also I nearly slipped and accidentally kicked some bits into the lacquer !! So not a great job! But I can't expect anything else from the conditions I'm doing it in, but its a million times better than it was.
Will redo again when I have a garage! I've learnt loads from doing it o hopefully won't make the same mistakes again!
Will cut it all back and see if I can smooth it all out alittle!!
