Air colds are either 1.6 or 2.00 litre. The 1.9 is a water cooled.

My 1.9 air cooled maxes out at 65!

Water jacket?? :s

There are no 1.9 air cooled engines..
Only WBX
You have a 1600 or a 2L.

1.9 WBX. Copes with 60mph on a flat motorway/dual carriageway just fine, but I tend to sit at about 55mph.

I enjoy driving the van and am never in rush when I'm in it, so why not make the journey last a bit longer (and improve the fuel efficiency...)

My undergeered tdi cruising speed is 65/70 ish. Have loads in reserve to overtake lorries/suprise boy racers/white van man on occasions. 8)

Yes sorry you are right, Its a 2.0l air cooled but technically its a 1.9... Something. It is the 2.0l model, i just remember it saying 1976cc or something similar in the log book, so keep finding myself saying 1.9 by mistake.

When I first got my camper I traveled on the motorway at an indicated 70mph keeping up with the flow of cars around me occasionally a little faster down hill or passing "silverbacks" that were in my way. I used lots of diesel and oil too  .

Last year I slowed down to an indicated 60-65mph, just a little faster than the big trucks, much more relaxing way to drive, managed to go from the Lake district to Bodmin on one tank of diesel and no oil consumption at all :ok

The only thing I worry about is I do this in my 1.6D non turbo pop top camper that is fully loaded, by all accounts on here it shouldn't do those speeds so this year I will check it with the GPS on the daughters phone (I don't have or need sat nav)

Thats interesting going off that it would be plausible that a td could attain the speed my speedo indicated i have had a quick search online for the factory spec re speed but not found it as yet.

Turbo isnt going to make any difference to top speed.....at van speeds......just how quickly it gets there
