A CB aerial, either on a mag base or a gutter clamp, works fine as a car radio aerial (although in theory it shouldn't, but it does). You just need to chop of the CB plug and fit a
car radio aerial plug

Ta John! I have ready access to the CB aerial plug, the Midland sits on top of the dash. So I just need to knock up a patch lead with the relevant ends then.

Aye, you could do that, but then you can only use one device at a time

You might consider doing as I did on another van I owned, I had a gutter mount on each side of the van, with matching aerials = looked cool

I can't see that being a problem, if the CB's on then it's banter time

CB off for daily trundling.
Or I wire up a changeover switch

I took this blaupunkt melbourne out of my 1990 passat when it was scrapped. Never fitted it to my caravelle though.

Blaupunkt Beta. Right on the money!

I used to have a Blaupunkt something or other that had some really neat features, especially for a nerd like me. It had 4 x short wave bands (very rare on a car radio) and it could record to it's cassette deck too

Sadly the drive motor failed and despite my then expertise in sourcing things like that (it was my trade) I could not find a suitable motor

I had a Blaupunkt Boston CC20 in my Mk2 Golf until recently - with a tape adapter to the iPhone.
However, in my '90 Syncro I have opted for a Blaupunkt Lausanne RD148. I like having a CD player still but it was the colour I wanted. It will fit in with my planned retro/primary colours look nicely.
This is the rarer RD148 Colour Edition (available in yellow, red and blue).
