thanks for all post on my speedo wobble this were im at so far as members have said
cable is sticking out of pasg front wheel bearing cover and split pin in place does have some play back & forth ????
had a fiddle at back of speedo dial its screwed in ok & cable look shiney new ??
only idea given i havent tryed was to make a funal around cable & and get some 3in1 oil down the cable if that fails to work am i looking at geting a replacment speedo dial ,ouch£££££

Cable may be kinked somewhere or has developed a tight spot....oil will help, or new cable...easy enough job, cables on fleabay.
There isn't a heater blower fan on the aircooleds (the alternator fan pushes warm air through) just directional control with the dash levers.
Do you get hot/warm air coming into the cab? If not you will need to check all the heater ducting from the heat exchangers to the cab. 1.6 exhaust is a bit of a nightmare so may have been bodged in the past.
She will run fine on unleaded, best advice I can give is keep a close eye on the oil level as these engines usually leak oil , but it's normal....just keep an eye on the level.

thanks bobdog yep cable is new but looks like fitted abit naff got some better curves into it driped some oil down cable works fine now
heater all working now cable /flap incorect adjusted ok now
now fitting a split charger and aux batt

Good news on your heater fella...can be an expensive thing to sort out...don't ask me how I know..
CT is a reliable lump, just underpowered and has to work hard to keep things moving. If your thinking of keeping the van long term, most folk eventually convert to the CU 2l twin carb. Not much faster but a lot easier to live with.

Hi guys, Im also a Newbie, in fact dont get the Camper until tomorrow night - proper excited. I'm Lee by the way, This has been a really useful thread as Im aware that the needle on mine does the exact same thing! I do however have a question as I am told by the current soon to be previous owner that runs 10 miles an hour out (will check with my Nav unit tomorrow) any ideas on how to sort that out?? It has had alloys fitted and Im led to believe the overall circumference is slightly different to the original steels and tyres.

I think this forum is going to be very helpful. Mrs P is already sighing as I've spent most of the night on here reading posts - sad I know

Mine is between 5 and 8 mph out it's worse at the top end and when starting but not bad at about 60
I just keep it in mind - I use the sat nav or an app on my phone for a more accurate reading
as long as you know how much it's out by you can compensate
You can also compare the tyre size here

It'll tell you how much difference the tyre size will make at the speedo

Thanks Fin, had a feeling I wouldn't be the only one. I think that's what we will have to do. Unless I can find a way to recalibrate it / sort it out!

...mine used to do just this. As above, checked the front passenger wheel attachment, then I disconnected from binnacle (I think that's the word) end in cab and propped up end of cable virtically. I fashioned a sort of funnel on the cable end using tape, then regularly dripped 3 in 1 oil (any light oil should be ok) down the 'ole! Left it overnight before reconnecting. Did that ten years ago, not had a problem since
