Hi
Ady thanks for the offer on the ECU I have PM'd you.
I did disconnect the 02 / Lambda sensor completely, didnt have one on it at all for the first couple of years I had the van, always ran well, only put it on to see if it would improve the MPG!
I'm replacing the tank straps so will check out the fuel pump when they get changed over, thanks Jed
Vacuum on the tank?

the engine only cuts out / dies when it gets warm, though, will check it out.
Will give BBA Reman a call tomorrow, there website didnt appear to have the right ECU's catalogued.
Thanks.............the other Ady

The fuel pump is just under the van, turn the ignition on and you should hear it buzz.

Petrol engine fault diagnosis think I have the words of the WIKI on the inside of my eye lids by now.
Oops! sorry!
Yes, check the pump is pumping, disconnect outlet and run it a second or two to see clean fuel coming out.
Keep the lambda disconnected while you diagnose, can be right batards if the sender is iffy.
ECU substitute as for sure this needs eliminating.
Aidan and AndySyncro might say something about fuel pressure regulator, though not sure totally relevant to hot running probs ?

Thanks for your responses
Got some bits in place to solve this over the weekend
Ady any joy with the ECU?
Thanks again

Mine is a MV and I had a similar problem - when the engine warmed it would start running roughly eventually stalling. This was caused by the plug to the temperature sensor at the back left of the engine being corroded - and thus the ECU assumed the engine was cold even when warm. I don't know if you've checked this - you did mentionTemp2 sensor but I don't know what that means!
Jeremy.

Thanks Jeremy
Did change that temperature sensor you mentioned, which is the "temp 2" sensor, dont know why it is temp 2 but thats how they are referred to in Bentleys and any suppliers when you need to replace them................ I'm sure someone will tell us though
Didnt check the plug as you mentioned, just been under the van and had a look, all is ok with the connector and wiring.
Always worth checking

Think T1 is gauge and T2 is signal for ECU and idle stab circuit.
Radiator has its own sensor for fan.
Don't ignore the loom itself, as in bad terminations, cracked and corroded wires.
T2 wire to ISU has been known to crack and go open circuit on a DJ

actually Clive temp 1 is inlet air intake temp sensor built into the afm, gauge temp sender is just the gauge temp sender no number no pack drill

Hehe! Hence the 'Think'
Good old 2.1s they don't stop throwing up problems. ..

I've had similar problems and can recommend a company called ECU Doctor
http://the-ecu-doctor.co.uk/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
Really helpfull.
Good luck MV electrical problems are a nightmare.

Thanks Peter, had a look at the website looks very comprehensive and very reasonably priced, will give them a ring tomorrow.
Did the ECU solve the problem? Have tried another with no real difference in the symptoms, although to be fair haven't taken it on a long drive!
I am being steered towards the fuel injection loom, may look into have a new one made, I do have someone local who would be able to do that, just need to see what the cost would be.

Did you clean the connectors on the fuel pump Ady?

No, not yet was going to tackle that when the new tank straps go on.
If it was the fuel pump connectors would it not happen more readily?
It does only die when it gets warm?
It then works fine if you turn the engine on and off again? (resetting sensors / ECU / system?)
If you stop and let the engine cool it will then run for another 5-10 milles till it has got warm again?

Hi Ady
I'll see if I can find my spare MV loom and give that a go.

Hi Guys
Sorry for the delay in replying.
AdyJoad at Boxwagen sorted the van out, I know it was a bit of a pain, but he was meticulous and did a really good job.
Swapped the whole fuel injection system over at one point or another including the loom.
Everything went back to original apart from new plugs, injectors and HT leads, Lambda sensor has been disconnected again, timing was adjusted and general overhaul / clean up of earths.
Have been on several trips across the south coast now and all seems in order
Jed, Fuel pump had blown a little around the bakeolite connectors so have a new fuel pump on order so that'll be sorted.
Thanks all for your input and help.
