It's not boy racer loud but noisey enough that if I were setting off early somewhere one morning I would be rolling it 100 yards down the road before starting. ....And I live on a council estate.

I have a Speedshop exhaust. I would not say it boy racer material but it is a bit throaty sounding and can make a bit of a pop when going down the gears early.
I am well pleased with it and it mile better than the rusty ole pipe that was hanging on there before!

If anyone considering purchasing one, I can rev my van up at the afore mentioned Bustypes do to demo it, pref after midnight and drunk as a skunk (I will turn the genny off to avoid false results )
My VWspeedshop exhaust is not that loud and TBH I don`t think it is to much different to the original just sweeter and more smooth flowing gases.

The actual silencer is half the size of the original VW part! you sure you're not just hearing it through rose tinted ear defenders lol......
Now the Brickwerks system is as you decribe....about the same loadness as the original but has a sweeter/crisper/punchier sound.
Speed Shop system...at least the ones I've heard, are at least 50% louder than standard.
Exactly what some people want! but not for me thanks.

Nah, I like the red lights and the rev counter to tell me when I've stalled not the fact I can suddenly hear the radio

Anyone has put a stainless exhaust on a diesel? Although I'm runninga a TDI conversion, but the turbo is on a JX manifold via an adapter. Also just welded the golf exhaust flange to the original JX exhaust.

I agree with you Daisy, it isn't that loud at all and I will prove it at Bustypes next month

how about the turbo thomas system,have been looking through the wiki,the brickwerks system seems good but the 8 week wait may be a problem as I reckon mine is getting ready to go soon

Not finished yet as it's on temporary bands - to be welded when I am happy with it. Might change this box as it is slightly boy racer!
Rust is from wire brush when I polished it back up.

I bought mine from Mick at NWVW (username on here is nw_vw_T25)
It has a nice tone to it but is not too loud at all. I'd describe it as 'nicely balanced' I don't know too much more about it other than that. Would agree with previous comments about WD40 vs heat. Also take particular caution with the engine/manifold bolts... one of mine sheared, meaning that I currently have studs not bolts on that section and 'modification' to make it all fit... until I can get in there and resolve.
Definitely worth getting in touch for a price.

Have to add my vote for the VW speedshop 'zorst. Looks great, ISN'T too loud and is at the 'right' price
(PS noise-wise I'd say it's just slightly more vocal - certainly much quieter than a lot of the Subaru Imprezas that are gurgling about...)
