I have it fitted to mine, haven't checked if they are working though. Not too sure they do much of anything, seeing as VW seemed to discontinue them.
Im doing a bit of searching to see if a '98 passat could come with a webasto as a option, drawing a it of a blank at the moment. Reason for looking is if it came as a option, it should be able to integrate into the loom and have the ecu tell it what to do. Need to find a full option list for a '98 AFN Passat

The heaters don't seem to be fitted to all engines...but some of the PDs had them as well...I can't say if they do much either yet...


No idea on the passat webasto...I will have a look at some PR code lists and see if I can see anything...the Sharon's did have them however and I think possibly with an Afn fitted...

my 16" petrol jagd has a webasto preheat factory option....and my 16" caravelle also had a preheat option when it was sporting the jx long time back...most swedish/finnish vans came with a factory preheat option

If the sharan had it, the ecu must be pretty much the same? Would be handy to find out if that era car could come with one, could make it almost plug and play

Next your going to tell me you removed the one from the JX, stuck it in the shed and you still have it now

I will see what I can find out....I might have a early shazzer wiring book at my mums..that would show if its an option....if it is I'm getting one!

Just corrected his 8090 Member number. though, definitely 3225 not 5789

lloyed no longer have the jx lump, think its just a 240v element thats screws in to block insted of one of the core plugs.....the webasto is like the aux water pump incorperating a little blower heater/boiler and glowplug just like an ebber and runs of the main tank...petrol in my case...and has a timer...i dont see any reson why you couldent get your hands on/adapt the 240v eliment to fit the core plug on a tdi block...although on the jx set up they are interferance fits so only good for one insert

I have seen those, look good. Can imagine myself driving off with it stil plugged in I might sort myself out a diesel one for next winter

i got a big box full of them out in the garage somewhere, i´ll have to dig them out, i have to say though that guys prices on ebay are ridiculously cheap just the green cable in the pic usually costs more than that

would be really easy to wire one into your onboard 230v setup so just plug into your camping socket no need for another external plug
