ok when you reply and write your pleasantries,lol you copied the image code and pasted it, then just go back to the source .p bucket or whatever and keep doing the same,
right what is the rest of the van like, picky of good bits as well as bad, if your album is public then copy and paste its addy on here and we can peek and load if your stuck.
roof is nicely scrap, good bit of work to do but it helps if you remove all the crap and then you can see what your about...

Looks like its been rotting for a little while. The roof is definately scrap though. What are the inner sections like, have they rotted away as well?
You are looking at needing a roof replacement though I reckon no matter what.

simple enough if youve done that sort of work but i will spare the blushes of the member who though no fault of his own, had his off by the pillars and then contacted me for measurements of window openings etc, as the muppet that did it didnt take any

Beleive me, there was a lot worse to worry about than getting his roof back on. it was all totally kippered. i have his new van here now and its 1000 times better. but still needs work.

I'd planned to make profiles inside all the current openings -but on top of the flanges using lengths of 100mm strips of solid card & create witness lines on the flanges for windows etc (on the current and doner roofs pillars). I'll extrapalate the exterior (visible) cuts from the flanges. where possible I'll have a 25mm difference in cuts between the inner and outer sections that make up the pillers & pool weld the sections together where they create flanges for the window/panel/door frame seals etc. also plan to record excisting glass and panel opening sizes (between the flanges for glass).
obviously not touching my 'roof' until i've got the donor on tressles next to it, & not sure what to do about the rear air intakes until i get cutting & see how solid the current ones are.
any tips advice obviously welcome

Measure, measure and measure again. but judging by your post you already know roughly what your doing.

and measure one bliddy time more ,
the aperatures are quite easy to do, 3 measurements and it has to be right, it may help if ypou made a vertical piece of sheet steel about a foot wide with a reinforcing rib at the back or front as it matters not, have one for each rear side window, i make a brace to bolt between the cab door striker and both hinge mountings and from this i run/ran a support up to variouse points as a fixed reference, then just a measure ment of screen f & r height for checking purposes. it will also help if yopu tack a small plate to the insides of the pillars so you can lower the roof on and makes you measurement in detail as you progress/refine, this way it wont fall off,
as said its easy enough just steady and dont rush

I'm slowly un picking the roof, got the door spaces braced a scafold built from the front braces up under the front cab section and nearly ready to remove around the windscreen. most of the rust you can see inside the rear vents and panels etc is superficial with the exception of the N/s 'C' post top needing some repair. Bit annoyed as at the start i put an amount of energy using a spotweld drill on panals that were welded to scrap when i could have piloted and drilled straight through. got a few other jobs to do but being held up by the roof as i can't jack it up with no roof!
but as it stands all roof behing b posts is gone, donor roof prepped and primed, just got find the time to bite the bullet and dismantle the windscreen surround!
