It was on a 2.0Tdi Golf not mine (obviously) but a guy at werks. I was quoted £300 for when our AFN Passat needs doing ... but the engine's inline on a Passat 110bhp not transverse.

£800 for a Golf 2.0TDi belt change is a joke then because the front bumper doesn't need be removed...unlike on a Passat TDi.

99.9% sure the injectors and loom problem was only on the 170 tdi. I had mine changed at a routine service as part of a recall. I understand that some VW 140 tdi may be affected but on Audis only the 170 was affected.

Right then, code reader arrived, scanned for codes, but none present, disconnected the reader & engine light was not lit any more! Still got intermittent loss of power though. Think it may be a turbo problem. Any ideas?

As I said before the boost sensor acted up on our AFN ... having been run a lot more it seemed to clear itself up.

My EOS 2.0tdi sport had an intermittent fault of power cut, if you lift of part power returned then engine yellow light came on. Fault was exhaust pressure sensor 1 apparently very common

Injector fault affects 140 and 170... They just stop and won't restart...old news now and all free, if you have had some changed and can provide evidence vw will refund the cost, cambelts are around £340 and menu pricing is same at all main dealers, Indy are often more expensive and do them wrong, fault code reader will tell you a code I agre but can lead you p the garden path if you don't know how to translate that info into a diagnosis, for example...car puts light on...read codes, bank 1 lambda probe no signal, jump to conclusion probe is at fault, spend £100 on probe, same...oh the wires are broken...many Indy garages are struggling against technology, dealers see the same cars day in and out, have tech support, if you get told a part will fix your car for £xxx and it doesn't the dealer is liable....I work at the dealer and while we don't alway get it right I see a lot of cars from other garages come in with all the obvious stuff new, MAF, probes, sensors, etc and car still faulty, usually have to start at the beginning as non genuineness cannot be trusted, have to swaped for known good units as we don't just throw parts at stuff and hope..

Any help?

3 b passat has to have bumper off but 3c is same as a golf...I would rather do a 3b any day....don't even need to lift the car.

Different engine but yes dpf faults are common, modified sensors and software improvements are slowly sorting things out.....a bit....sorry you have an eos, my advice is fit a bilge pump in the boot or don't get it wet..

As mentioned by M&C injector faults are on 140 and 170 lumps! We have a 57 plate 2.0 tdi passat and have had them done. Afaik though it is still not an actual proper recall?? When we had ours changed i had to ring VW direct and kick up a right fuss to get them checked, then they did change them FOC.
Also had cambelt + pump done at dealer for £330 all in!

hate to tell you after you spent the money , but the advice that tells you not to spend £xx on not getting a garage to diagnose faults and to buy your own fault reader to save money should have had a warning attached saying not all aftermarket fault readers pick up every code. It might be a case of in an effort to save money its cost you money.

Have had a Snap On terminal with latest updates miss VAG codes and also seen a 'Scangauge' miss two fault codes VCDS picked up.

VCDS can be picked up for less than a tenner on bay of fleas

Code P0403 is now present. EGR valve solenoid fault, however solenoid has been replaced & fault still occurs. Original solenoid re-fitted, any ideas?

Turns out the EGR (vacuum) valve was fine & clean, however the throttle valve had stripped teeth on the black nylon actuation gear, thus it wasn't opening/closing the valve correctly.

All fixed now!!

Thanks for all your help
