I have a midland alan 42 multi, that's the one that comes with a cigarette lighter and external antenna adapter. it also comes with cassettes for rechargeable and non-rechargeable batteries, and a charger. It's a pretty popular little unit, legal in all of Europe and Russia (some may not work on the Russian bands depending on were you bought it but a little bit of soldering will fix that if needed). The only thing missing really is single sideband that became legal in the EU a year or two ago up to 12watt output (AM/FM is 4watt max) and would give a way better range, but for occasional local use the Alan 42 is a good choice. On batteries i get about 4 hours of scanning on the rechargeable cassette 2100mAh batteries in, haven't tested with non-rechargeable batteries.
